The Premium Format devoted by Sideshow to Hawkeye was realeased in 2013, with an edition size of 1000 pieces for the regular version and only 350 for the exclusive one, just including an art print. The piece was sculpted by Tony Cipriano and Matt Beutler and has a size of 20 x 41 cm and a heigth of about 51 cm. Sideshow declares a weigth of just 5 Kg, but I am not sure of that: the piece is very heavy and to move it is far from being an easy task! Concerning the piece, I think this is one of the most underrated Premium Format produced by the Americn Company. The sculpt is simply perfect, with a powerful and well proportioned physique, exhibiting well defined muscular masses on abdomen, arms and legs. The elegance of the figure is exhalted by a very dynamic pose: the right leg is fully elongated backward and the left one is bent and leans against an elongated stone support. The archer holds his bow with his left arm, while the right is bent backward with the open hand, as if the hero had just shot an arrow. The coloring is well done, although the nuances are just sketched on muscle contours and the chromatic impact is mainly based on the contrast between the purple and blue dominant colors of the suit, very faithful to the classic Comics of the Silver Age. Look at the sculptural beauty of the boots, rich of creases and shades, with high lapels (very similar to the red boots of Captain America) and the quivery, attached on back by a magnet, with the top of different arrows in good evidence. The bow is very large and has a fine, classic design; probably, a different color would have provided it with a superior chromatic impact and a less plastic look, but, as a whole, it is well done and congruent with the rest of painting. Note the great care in the painting of hands' nails, the realism of the half-gloves perfectly following the contours of the fingers, the long bracelets on the wrists and the excellent scaling of the circular band below the neck. The purple ribbons at the bottom of the suit are shapable (due to an inner iron wire), so you can change their position as you like. In any case, (and in my opinion) the real strength of this statue is the face of the hero. The eyes are very expressive and professionally colored; the sculpt points out any contour and wrinkle around the mouth and chin in a perfect way; the mask is awesome, with its wide, half-rigid winglets around the eyes, two evident bulging to indicate the underlying ears, the very well defined and curved contours. In a nutshell: a small jewel! In conclusion, I think this Premium Format is a top-level collectible and a must for any Sideshow collector aiming at constituting the Avengers team in 1:4 scale.
